Passport to Patriotism:

A National Youth Art Initiative

Celebrating the Next Generation of American Artists

The American Arts Conservancy is proud to partner with the American Heroes Student Art Contest, an initiative of Freedom 250 supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, to recognize and celebrate young artists from across the United States.

Created in honor of America’s 250th anniversary, the nationwide competition invites students in grades 3–12 to create original works inspired by the people, ideals, and moments that have shaped our nation. Through art, students are encouraged to explore history, civic engagement, creativity, and the stories that define the American experience.

This year, the 15 national winning artworks are featured as part of Passport to Patriotism at the Art Museum of the Americas in Washington, D.C., where they are exhibited alongside works by leading contemporary American artists. This extraordinary opportunity gives young artists the chance to have their work presented in a professional museum setting while inspiring thousands of visitors from around the world.

Whether you’re a student, parent, educator, or school administrator, we encourage you to participate and help celebrate America’s next generation of creative voices.

A National Museum Exhibition

This year, the 15 national winning artworks are selected for exhibition as part of Passport to Patriotism at the Art Museum of the Americas in Washington, D.C.

Displayed alongside works by some of today’s most celebrated contemporary American artists, these exceptional student pieces become part of a larger national conversation about identity, history, freedom, and the enduring spirit of American creativity. Their inclusion reflects the belief that the future of American art is already taking shape in classrooms, studios, and communities across the country.

For many students, this marks their first opportunity to see their work exhibited in a professional museum—an unforgettable experience that encourages artistic confidence and celebrates the power of young voices.

Shaping the Future of American Art

At the American Arts Conservancy, we believe that preserving America’s artistic legacy also means investing in those who will shape its future.

The American Heroes Student Art Contest provides meaningful opportunities for young artists to develop their talents, share their stories, and experience the transformative power of seeing their work recognized on a national stage. By connecting students with museums, educators, artists, and communities, the program demonstrates that art has the power to educate, unite, and inspire.

As our nation commemorates its 250th anniversary, these remarkable young artists remind us that the American story is still being written—and that creativity will continue to shape its future for generations to come.
